Wort's Causeway

Difficulty: 1/5

Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

Length: 1.1km

Height Gain: 43m

Average gradient: 4%

No cycling document in East Anglia is complete without the inclusion of Cambridge, where 1 in 5 journeys are made by bicycle  First built under Sir William Wort in the 17th Century, this climb is not a significant test for a fit cyclist but it offers some fine views over Cambridge and the surrounding farmland.  Begin at the crossroads and follow the sweeping road past a car park on the left.  Here, the gradient stiffens for one of two stings.  End the first, recover and prepare for the second, longer push.  The pinnacle of this section is a 10% right-hander which delivers you to the picturesque summit.
