Tawney Lane

Difficulty: 2/5

Location: Stapleford Tawney

Length: 3.5km

Height Gain: 60m

Average gradient: 2%

You cannot fail to enjoy this climb.  Beginning in the shadow of the M25, it journeys 3.5km northwards into peaceful countryside until the noise of the traffic is a distant memory.  The first rise follows the apex of a ridge up to a farmhouse, a surprisingly far view opening up to your left.  After a brief descent, you continue to climb on a slight gradient, though the second half is punctuated by brief sections of 10%.  In the hedgerows beside the road is a diversity of bird life and in the surrounding fields are home to horses and cattle.  This road is as beautiful as it gets within the vicinity of North London.
