THE CYCLING CLIMBS OF EAST ANGLIA
Primrose Hill

Difficulty: 3/5
Location: Moulton, Newmarket
Length: 1.2km
Height Gain: 53m
Average gradient: 4%

The tougher of the two Moulton ascents, Primrose Hill is the site for an annual Hill Climb challenge as it is the hidden gem for cyclists in West Suffolk. Begin crossing a ford on Bridge Street in Moulton. The climbing gets going more or less straight away at a manageable 5%, but this soon changes. As you pass a set of houses, the gradient enters double figures and you find yourself leaving the saddle. However, this painful gradient lasts longer than you expect, only really relenting as you pass the left turn for Primrose Hill Farm. From here, the climb is no problem as you roll up and over the plateau and into Gazeley.
