THE CYCLING CLIMBS OF EAST ANGLIA
One Tree Hill

Difficulty: 3/5
Location: Langdon Hills
Length: 2.7km
Height Gain: 88m
Average gradient: 3%

This climb combines two roads, both ironically named; One Tree Hill is shrouded in a canopy of trees and Dry Street was soaked in water when I visited, despite little rainfall. It is a long, testing climb but great fun to ride and a surprisingly quiet route this close to London. After crossing the A13, the slope hits its maximum – a short 13% burst over One Tree Hill. The road descends briefly and then settles into a gentle gradient for much of the rest of the climb. It is only in the final straight that the gradient becomes challenging again.
