THE CYCLING CLIMBS OF EAST ANGLIA
Hook Lane

Difficulty: 3/5
Location: Hadleigh
Length: 0.7km
Height Gain: 36m
Average gradient: 5%

This charismatic little road south of Hadleigh makes a fine addition to any ride in this area. The road is narrow and claustrophobic but with the occasional view out to your right over fields of horses, marking your progress. The gradient comes in two stabs - the first well exceeding 10%. This section will push you out of the saddle and you will welcome a lull in the slope as it passes under an old railway bridge. The gradient then picks up again at a more manageable degree until easing off round a sharp left hand bend.
