Haddenham Hill

Difficulty: 1/5

Location: Haddenham

Length: 0.5km

Height Gain: 26m

Average gradient: 5%

As the philosophy of this website is that any area has some hill-climbing worth, I was keen to extend this to the fens.  Towering 40m above sea level, Haddenham is the highest point in this ultimate flatland and therefore appeared a good place to direct my search.  Of the multiple routes up the ridge, the one which provided the most climbing is heading east from Earith on the A1123.  However, for something a little steeper (and a bit quieter), head south from Sutton on the A1421.  This is a 500m push with a maximum gradient of 8%.  It should provide any experienced cyclist with little trouble but makes a change from the surrounding flat country lanes and there are fine views throughout Haddenham.
