Beacon Hill

Difficulty: 3/5

Location: West Runton

Length: 1.5km

Height Gain: 77m

Average gradient: 5%

This is the most well-known climb in Norfolk, ending at the county's modest highpoint of 103m.  For this reason, I saw four other cyclists when I visited.  Unlike Bard Hill and Sandy Hill, there are no moments of double figure gradient, only a solid 5% slog for over a kilometre.  The surroundings are attractive with much of the climb covered by deciduous forest and with a steep drop to you right.  There is no better East Anglian climb for perfecting technique for the high mountains.
