Bard Hill

Difficulty: 4/5

Location: Salthouse

Length: 0.9km

Height Gain: 54m

Average gradient: 6%

This climb may be only a kilometre long but it put me well into the red.  Begin in Salthouse, an attractive coastal hamlet and take Purdy Street away from the A149.  The first half of the climb averages about 3% which only serves to soften you up before the last 500m which steepen relentlessly to over 10%.  This section was one of the few occasions in East Anglia when I have wished for a climb to end.  But, of course, it does and you will immediately feel the urge to ride up Bard Hill again.
